The moment that we first heard that Demi Lovato and Naya Rivera were going to be doing a duet on “Glee” season 5, there was one thought that inevitably crawled into our brain: These two characters of Santana and Dani were definitely going to be romancing each other on the new season.
Well, luckily the news is now official that Demi will be playing a new love interest. Rivera confirmed the following last night to MTV (see the video below) while celebrating the 2013 Video Music Awards in Brooklyn, and said that she is more than excited to see what happens with her on board. This is a casting that many Lovatics are clearly already celebrating, as it marks an opportunity for their idol to do her first major acting gig since “Sonny with a Chance” back on the Disney Channel. Given that she is only set to be in six episodes, though, it is probably going to be pretty easy to figure out whether or not this relationship lasts in the long-term.

I believe this means she’ll be on the August 26th episode!
Very excited for this news!
For those of you hankering for some more great scoop from the world of “Glee,” how’s this for making any and all fans of Naya Rivera smile for a minute or two: Not only is Santana going to have a big arc starting pretty early this season, but she will also be performing “Here Comes the Sun” alongside Demi Lovato’s Dani during one part of the two-part Beatles tribute episode that airs beginning with the September 26 premiere.
E! News was the first to confirm this story, and we are sure that it will immediately spark all sorts of conversation about whether or not we’re about to see a romance between the two actors. Santana is now single, and with Heather Morris gone until likely sometime in the spring, odds are that she is not going to hold on to thoughts about Brittany forever. She doesn’t know, after all, when she will see the new MIT student again, and so it is thus hard to hold onto someone like this.
It will probably be a few weeks into filming before it is ever confirmed as to what the relationship is between Demi and the other “Glee” characters in New York City, and all we can confirm for the time being is that she will have many scenes and also performances with Adam Lambert, who is going to be guest-starring for a significant arc of his own. These two big castings are proof that the show is working on a transition into more and more scenes in New York City, and that this is where the show wants to ultimately go starting in the second half of this season.
Naya was one of the first people to welcome Demi to the crew on Glee. Read her tweet below.
So excited for @ddlovato to join our cast! Wonder what we'll get up to in NYC!
